Breast Lift
Breast lift surgery is especially popular among women post
pregnancy that have experienced physical bodily changes. After
pregnancy some women undergo permanent changes because the
number of fat cells make it difficult to get rid of excess
fat in certain areas, leading to saggy or flattened breasts.
Sagging breasts are the result of skin and ligaments that
support the breasts becoming stretched. The cosmetic procedure
called breast lift, or mastoplexy is able to lift and reshape
the breasts.
The advancement in cosmetic breast surgery like breast lifts
have allowed a more aesthetically pleasing, natural, and safer
experience for women choosing to undergo the procedure. Depending
on the individual woman, either a modified breast lift or
a full breast lift can be performed. A less number of incisions
are made with a modified breast lift, but both aim at restoring
a more youthful, perkier appearance.
Some women choose to have a breast lift in conjunction with
a breast implant. A strong candidate for a breast lift surgery
is a healthy woman that is realistic about what cosmetic surgery
procedures can provide them. Women that are still considering
future pregnancies may want to think about waiting until after
to have breast lift surgery, however during a breast lift
consultation the surgeon will properly assess and advise each
individual patient.
A modified breast lift will involve an incision around the
areola to remove the excess skin and then the breast lift
surgeon will tighten and reshape the breast as desired. In
a full breast lift the surgeon will make an incision around
the areola so that the nipple can be repositioned on the lifted
breasts. Under the breast in the natural fold another incision
will be made, and the last incision will run from the areola
up to the crease. The surgeon will remove excess skin then
proceed to tighten and firm the breast as necessary for the
breast lift.
The results of a breast lift can be subtle or dramatic, depending
on the previous condition of that woman. The incisions for
a breast lift are made in the most discreet areas to better
conceal any appearance of scars. Your breast lift surgeon
will assess each patient to determine if the benefits of breast
lift surgery outweigh the risks. While many breast lift procedures
are performed safely, there are risks associated to any surgery
and breast lift is no different. Not all women will be strong
candidates for breast lift surgery.
There is a relatively small amount of downtime associated
to breast lifts but this varies based on each individual.
Breast lifts are generally out patient procedures, taking
just a few hours to perform and within a week most women are
able to return to everyday activities. Your breast lift surgeon
will give each patient post-operative instructions based on
their individual healing time.
